Terms & conditions

The terms that apply when you book training with us: booking, payments and deposits, cancellations, assessment and certification. We keep them in plain English, so if anything is unclear, just ask.

About these terms

These terms apply when you book a course, workshop or mentorship with Smart Bowen International Training Academy ("SBITA", "we", "us"). By booking, you agree to them. Please read them before you enrol, and ask us if anything is unclear.

Booking your place

Your place is confirmed once we have received your booking and your first payment, and we have emailed you to confirm. Places on each course are limited and allocated in the order payments are received.

Entry requirements

  • Human Accredited Practitioner training requires an Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology (A&P) qualification to Level 3 before you can qualify. We can give you a referral code for a discounted course. This does not apply to equine or canine training.
  • Equine and canine CPD is open only to practitioners already qualified in that species. Human CPD is open to qualified human Bowen therapists.
  • Module 1 on every stream can be taken as a stand-alone course for helping family, friends or your own animals, not for financial gain. It is the only module that can be taken on its own.
  • Modules 2 onwards are only available as part of the full Accredited Practitioner programme. Once you enrol on the programme, you commit to completing every module.

Paying for your training

Paying in full

If you pay the full course fee at least one month before your first module, you receive the early-bird price shown on our pricing page.

Paying as you go

If you choose to pay as you go, you pay a £100 deposit for every module when you enrol:

  • Human: 7 modules, £700 in deposits
  • Equine: 5 modules, £500 in deposits
  • Canine: 4 modules, £400 in deposits

Each deposit is taken off that module's fee. The balance for each module is due one month before that module starts. Module fees are charged at the price in place when each module's balance is due, so if our prices rise during your training, the new price applies to any modules you have not yet paid for. Deposits secure your place on the full programme and are non-refundable, including deposits for any modules you have not yet taken if you leave the course.

Monthly payment plans

If neither option suits you, we can agree a monthly Direct Debit plan. The plan will be confirmed in writing, and all payments must be complete before your final exam.

Late payment

If a payment is overdue, we may hold your place on the next module until it is paid. You will not be able to sit your final exam or receive your certificate until all fees are paid.

If you need to cancel or change dates

  • More than 28 days before a module: you can transfer to a later date free of charge, once.
  • Between 14 and 28 days before: any money paid for that module, other than the deposit, can be moved to a later date, with a £50 administration fee.
  • Less than 14 days before, or not attending: the module fee is not refundable or transferable, except in exceptional circumstances at our discretion.

If you booked online or by phone, you have a 14-day cooling-off period from booking in which you can cancel for a full refund, as long as your course has not started within that time.

If we need to cancel or change a course

Occasionally we may need to move or cancel a course, for example if an instructor is unwell or too few students have booked. If this happens we will let you know as soon as possible and offer you a place on another date or a full refund of the money you paid for that module. We are not responsible for travel or accommodation costs you have already booked, so we recommend booking refundable travel.

Assessment and certification

To qualify as an Accredited Practitioner you must attend every module, complete your case studies and coursework, and pass your final assessment. Human students must also hold a Level 3 A&P qualification. Your final assessment is carried out by an SBITA instructor who has not taught you. If you do not pass first time, we will explain what you need to work on and arrange a resit. Resits are charged.

Course materials

Manuals, handouts, videos and student portal content are for your own learning. They remain our property, and you may not copy, share or sell them, or use them to teach others.

Conduct and safety

We ask everyone to treat fellow students, instructors, clients and animals with care and respect. Please tell us before the course about any health condition or injury that may affect you during practical work. We may ask a student to leave a course, without refund, if their behaviour puts others at risk.

After you qualify

Once qualified, you are responsible for your own insurance, professional membership and practice. Treating animals must be done with the knowledge and consent of the owner and in line with veterinary law.

Our liability

We take great care in the training we provide. Nothing in these terms limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. Otherwise, our liability to you is limited to the fees you have paid for the course concerned.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with any part of your training, please tell us at info@bowen-training.com. We will respond within 14 days and do our best to put things right.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. We may update them from time to time. The version in force when you book is the one that applies to your booking.

If you have any question about these terms, please ask before you book. Email info@bowen-training.com and Lindsay will reply personally.
