Smart Bowen International Training Academy exists to share gentle, effective bodywork with the people and animals who need it — and to train the next generation of therapists to do the same. Our guiding belief runs through everything we do: every body, human or animal, deserves care, comfort and respect. It's why we're the only academy in the UK to teach across all three disciplines, and why we keep our groups small and our support personal.
Lindsay Holder
Smart Bowen International Training Academy is led by Lindsay Holder, a dedicated practitioner with more than 18 years' experience who trained in both the UK and Australia, the home of Bowen therapy. Over those years Lindsay has worked not only with people but with horses and dogs too, becoming one of very few therapists in the country fluent across all three.
Founding SBITA brought that experience together in one place: an academy where students can learn human, equine and canine Bowen to a professional, accredited standard, taught with the same patience and care Lindsay brings to the table itself. Based in Great Malvern and teaching at venues across the UK, Lindsay's approach is hands-on, personal and rooted in a simple belief — that every body matters.
Recognised, professional, insurable
Our training is accredited by the BTPA (Bowen Therapy Professional Association) and BAUK (the Bowen Association UK) — a recognised, professional standard. On qualifying, graduates can obtain professional insurance through Balens. Students arrange their own A&P certificate separately, and animal work is always carried out with veterinary consent as required by UK law.
